Meet Kristin Jones- Senior Sales Executive
A Q&A WITH KRISTIN JONES, OUR SENIOR SALES EXECUTIVE
Women have steadily advanced within the logistics and supply chain over the past decade. At Edge Logistics, we relish diversity and want to highlight our women in logistics. We believe that the industry will only be able to attract the right talent and overcome its perception issues by better promoting the scope of opportunities available. We sat down with Kristin Jones, our Senior Sales Executive to find out about how she got her start.
How did you learn about Edge?
I learned about Edge through Linkedin- I saw an article about the newly launched freight matching platform.
What is your daily routine like? If you work remote, how do you manage your time?
My daily routine is very structured, I’ve found it has to be when working from home or you won’t get anything done! In the morning, I read my favorite transportation publications so that I’m up to date on all pressing news. I’ll then work on current and ongoing business of mine. Soon after, I start to reach out to new or potential customers of ours. Most like after that I will have discovery calls with potential customers in the afternoon. I’ll then wrap up my day with any outstanding business!
What does an average day look like in your role?
An average day is filled with prospecting, submitting new pricing opportunities, quoting, working on market informed emails and sending updates to customers!
How has your role at Edge evolved?
My role at Edge has evolved quite a bit since I started about a year ago. I started out with an empty book of business, really starting from scratch. I would make hundred of calls a week and sending out twice as many emails. Now that I’m more established in my role and with my customers, my day consists of making sure my current customers are happy while also prospecting and working on new opportunities.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I like to try new restaurants, I try to go to a new one every other week. I like trying new recipes (let me tell you some are good and some are very bad). I also like to go to pilates just about every day!
What keeps you at Edge?
What’s important to me is that the company I work for is always evolving. No company will be successful if it never evolves. Edge has done a great job at staying with and ahead of the times.
What has changed at Edge since you started?
While I’ve been at Edge, so much as changed. Edge has put a large emphasis on transportation technology. Our technology really makes us stand out. The fact that the transportation industry just got rid of paper logs is insane! Edge is ever changing and growing. Our technology, Capacity is helping drivers and our employees work smarter, not harder.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting out new in logistics sales?
The more hands you shake, the more money you make.
Edge Logistics is constantly growing our team. To learn more about opportunities with Edge check out our careers page here.
